Controversy in Congress: Demands for Disciplinary Actions

After the events that occurred in the special session on Wednesday, national deputy Maximiliano Ferraro from the Civic Coalition urged the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Martín Menem, to take disciplinary measures in the next meeting in the chamber. Ferraro accused the legislators from La Libertad Avanza of disturbing the quorum through intimidation and requested that deputy Lisandro Almirón from Corrientes be sanctioned, with whom he had previously had conflicts and recalled his affiliation to the Frente de Todos in 2021.

In the same conflict, Ferraro also mentioned what happened with Marcela Pagano, who was involved in an incident with Lilia Lemoine and María Celeste Ponce, recorded on a cell phone. Ferraro cited Article 188, which indicates the possibility of creating a special commission to investigate serious offenses if the severity of the situation warrants it, and warned that he would present a motion regarding this if this procedure is not carried out.

The events referred to by Ferraro occurred during the session on Wednesday, after the approval of the emergency in Bahía Blanca. During the confrontation, the leader of the MID block, Oscar Zago, reacted to Almirón's 'pressure' to leave the chamber and provoke a lack of quorum. Meanwhile, Lemoine and Ponce recorded Pagano and Rocío Bonacci, sitting to discuss a motion related to the ratification of the journalist at the head of the Political Trial Commission. The exchange, recorded on Ponce's cell phone, ended with Bonacci throwing a glass of water in front of deputy Nadia Márquez from Neuquén.

In response to the situation, Maximiliano Ferraro expressed in a tweet: 'I demand that the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Martín Menem, that, in accordance with Article 188 of the Internal Regulations on disciplinary sanctions, the corresponding procedure be applied immediately in the next session.'
